25 Years of STAUFF Italy at a Glance

STAUFF Italy will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2026 and can look back on a steady evolution from a local sales office to a European production and distribution hub. Shaped by strategic location decisions, the targeted expansion of local manufacturing capacities and close integration within the STAUFF Group, STAUFF Italy has established itself as a high-performing partner for customers across numerous industries.

The early days of STAUFF Italy in northern Italy

The history of STAUFF Italy began in 2000 with the company’s foundation in Birone di Giussano. Just one year later, in 2001, the company commenced its operational activities. From the outset, the aim was to serve the Italian market with the full STAUFF product portfolio and to ensure proximity to customers in one of Europe’s most important industrial regions.

In the early years, the focus was on building robust sales structures, establishing partnerships and positioning the STAUFF brand in the Italian market.

Domenico Modesto and his pivotal role at STAUFF Italy

STAUFF’s success in Italy is inextricably linked to the name Domenico Modesto, who has played a key role in the development of the market since 1996. After the Italian market was initially developed from Germany in collaboration with Mathias Rohrmann, STAUFF established its own subsidiary as early as 2000. The full, permanent local presence from 2003 onwards ultimately marked a decisive milestone and laid the foundations for sustainable growth in one of Europe’s most important hydraulics markets.

However, this success is not merely a reflection of entrepreneurial foresight and consistent market development, but above all the result of a highly motivated and technically excellent team. Many employees have been with the company for decades, contributing their in-depth expertise and, through their loyalty and commitment, continuing to play a key role in shaping the development of STAUFF Italy to this day – a crucial factor for continuity, quality and long-term success.

Relocation as the foundation for sustainable growth

The growth in business activity was accompanied by changes in premises. In 2007, the company moved from Birone di Giussano to Desio in the Monza region. This move created additional capacity and better conditions for further growth.

The next relocation to Suello followed in 2014. The new site offered improved logistical links and more space for future developments. These relocations were always strategically motivated and supported the ongoing professionalisation of STAUFF Italy.

Development of local production expertise for hose assemblies

A key milestone in the development of STAUFF Italy was the launch of local production. In 2018, on-site production of hydraulic hose assemblies began. This significantly expanded STAUFF Italy’s role within the Group and laid the foundations for even closer collaboration with OEM customers.

In 2020, production capacity for hydraulic hose assemblies was further expanded. Another important step followed in 2021 with the establishment of an additional tube processing plant in Oggiono. The combination of hose assembly production and tube processing strengthened STAUFF Italy’s position as a high-performance manufacturing site within Europe.

Centralisation and new dimensions in Garbagnate Monastero

In 2023 and 2024, office space, warehousing and hose and tube production were consolidated at a new, central site in Garbagnate Monastero. The site is located around 35 kilometres north-east of Milan and now forms the heart of STAUFF Italy.

The new premises comprise:

  • 1,500 square metres of office space

  • 3,000 square metres for pipe and hose production

  • 2,500 square metres of logistics and warehouse space

Centralisation enables more efficient processes, shorter distances and even better coordination between administration, production and logistics.

STAUFF Italy today within the STAUFF Group

Today, STAUFF Italy distributes the full range of STAUFF components on the Italian market as well as in selected international markets such as Romania and Malta, for which STAUFF Italy has overall responsibility.

Furthermore, as the Continental European Manufacturing Centre, STAUFF Italy supplies machine and plant manufacturers across Europe with assembled pipe and hose lines as well as complex assemblies. Key areas of application include, amongst others, rail vehicle technology, construction and agricultural machinery, special-purpose vehicles for heavy-duty and special transport, steelworks, hydraulic systems and mobile hydraulics of all kinds.

An anniversary year of international significance in 2026

For STAUFF Italy, the year 2026 will be all about the anniversary. In addition to celebrating its 25th anniversary, STAUFF Italy will also host the STAUFF Group’s General Managers’ Meeting. This underlines the importance of the site not only historically but also strategically.

The anniversary provides an opportunity to look back on what has been achieved and, at the same time, to focus on the future development of STAUFF Italy within the international group.
